But it’s not just behaviour that needs to change - it’s the whole system. The majority of health organizations lack innovation and compelling human stories to make chronic disease prevention strategies work. Currently, most focus on identifying behavioural risk instead of inspiring behavioural change. PEPY is going to make this a thing of the past.
We need to stop focusing on life expectancy and start trying to improve our health expectancy.
Most people nowadays lose their health years before they lose their life. Chronic disease rates are on the uptick worldwide, affecting every region and socioeconomic class. And yes, many of us will get sick towards the end of our lives. But, we can cut rates of preventable chronic disease and push illness back to the end of our lives once we’re able to make a collective shift.
Treating chronic disease eats up 67% of Canada’s healthcare spending. That number can shrink if we start investing in people’s health - getting them healthy and keeping them that way - before they get sick.
Our illness care system needs to become a health care system. As a society, we’ve never been less active or more depressed.
A mere 16% of Canadians get enough physical activity to see any health benefits. 63% of Canadian millennials are considered to be at high risk for developing mental health problems.
We all wait for our cars to break down before taking them in. Don’t take this reactive approach to your health. It’s time to get proactive.

Finding out you have cancer can be very stressful. Those 20-30 seconds can change your life. Worse yet, the current response is complex and stuck in the past. As a result, cancer patients and their families often get “lost’ in the cancer experience.
“Cancer treatment is the use of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, medications and other therapies to cure a cancer, shrink a cancer or stop the progression of a cancer. Many cancer treatments exist. Depending on your particular situation, you may receive one treatment or you may receive a combination of treatments”

PEPY’s goal is to create an unstoppable global mind shift away from a “clinical path” towards a more people empowered “human path” as the first step to coping with cancer.

The biggest challenge for a cancer patient is the fear of the unknown
Hey cancer, be more human.
What’s needed is a cancer coping mind shift. Most people feel like they are in shock, overwhelmed, and devastated. They may even be angry, sad or just feel numb. The fear of the unknown is probably the hardest thing to deal with.
Crisis intervention is needed the moment a person receives their cancer diagnosis. A listening ear, assistance getting home, help to process the horrible news. There are suddenly so many decisions to make about treatments, possible surgery, and recovery.
One part of the cancer process that often gets pushed aside is the psychological aspect.* How do you manage the many emotions that come with it?
It’s a lot to deal with.
